Key Position Defensive Blocker
Practice time per week 3 Hours a week
Other Workout I try to do Cross Fit once a week. Our local gym offers free trial sessions on Saturday mornings. I also use my (limited) home workout equipment at least twice a week to supplement in the winter. But when it's warm enough, I use a local park to do hill sprints, and other endurance I'm not able to do while home.
Diet Trying to eat as many natural foods as I can make for myself. I try to keep myself from going out to eat to limit extra calorie intake. I've also limited how much beer I drink in recent months which has left me feeling leaner, but I certainly won't curb my drinking at any after-parties.

Previous Athletic Experience I did lots of of athletic stuff as a kid, but when high school came around I just lost that edge, which disappointed me. When I got my first desk job in my mid-twenties, I began to let myself go more than I was happy with. That's when I started looking for something to bring my competitive edge back. Soon after that, I just became another incredibly happy victim of roller derby.

Practice time per week 3 to 6
Other Workout

I utilize weight training four or five days a week. I run 4 miles, three times a week before my weight lifting sessions, or road biking (30-40 miles) in place of running.. I've had to cut back my cardio though, because I can't keep muscle bulk on my body if I do too much. Training sessions last about 2 hours.

I also Jam Skate whenever possible!

Diet

I try not to drink soda ( I love soda, it's like crack).

I'm older now and I just have to be more careful what goes in my diet. I try to stay away from junk food and fast food, and only cook fresh vegetables. I started taking Genesis Pure vitamin supplements and noticed a drastic increase in my health. I also use whey-protein and creatine post workouts. I've been able to carry more muscle since significantly increasing the amount of protein in my diet.

Laps in 5 minutes Lets just say I'm not the fastest lap skater, lol.
Previous Athletic Experience

I enjoy a very active lifestyle and am avid runner and road bicyclist. I have played rugby for 14 years and attended college on a soccer scholarship, After being cut from the university's team; I picked up rugby and never looked back. I used to kickbox and do MMA, and really had a a lot of fun with those too.

My only two real passions in life are dance and roller skating, I think roller skating is just an extension of dance. I am a Jam Skater and competed from 2003-2007, on any given weekend of the week you can find me at the roller jamming and shuffling to the music.

I LOVE dance. My parents placed me in ballet classes when I was six (I was asked to not return, as I was a destraction to others) I've studied tap, hop-hop, blallet and ballroom and I specialize in Salsa. I've taught latin ballroom on and off for about last six years.

Previous Athletic Experience I played soccer when I was really young. I trained for martial arts in jr high and high school. I was too cool for team sports in high school :) I have always had a fairly athletic build and I have been working out off and on since jr high. Derby actually gives me a reason to go to the gym now, I have never trained or conditioned myself as hard as I do now and it is all for derby. I love it!

Other Workout

In addition to practicing with my team, the Capital City Hooligans, I coach the Prairieland Punishers 2 days a week. So most of the year I'm on skates 4 or 5 days a week for derby.

I also get a really good workout from aggressive quad skating (skatepark bowls and halfpipes) which me and my girlfriend, Bambi Bloodlust, do a lot. And maybe if I somehow find any extra time, I'll toss in some other training doing things like T-25, trail skating, gym (cardio & weights).

Diet Not really. I try to eat fairly healthy. Bambi is a vegetarian so my meat consumption has drop drastically over the last 6 years. We also try to incorporate as many super foods into our meals as possible.

Previous Athletic Experience I played hockey pretty much my whole life until I started playing derby. On top of that I try to go snowboarding as much as possible. In high school I went multiple times per week. A few times my friends and I would even fill up the bed of my dads pick-up truck with zamboni shavings from a local ice rink so that we could snowboard in the summer.

Key Position Jammer, Offensive & Defensive Blocker

Other Workout

I lift 2-3 times a week for about an hour. Mostly a 5x5 of squat / deadlift / bench / overhead press.

I do approximately zero cardio and still somehow don't get tired blocking every other jam. Who knows.

Diet

I'm gluten free (bad stuff happens when I eat wheat-based things) so I cook for myself a lot. It's mostly meat, vegetables, milk, fruit, and protein powder. Oh, and I go through at least a gallon of ice cream a week. Somehow it's incredibly hard for me to gain weight since my metabolism is stupid.

TLDR: I'm a gluten-free garbage can.

Laps in 5 minutes 34 laps in 5 minutes
Previous Athletic Experience I've been rollerblading off and on since I was eight, I used to be a skate park rat. I played pick up roller hockey too. Otherwise, I played videogames when I was little.
