Body By Derby: Derby City Roller Girls

Body By Derby is a figure study of active derby athletes to show the different body types of active skaters and the physical effects derby has on the players. Other Workout Due to an injury, I just recently began working out again at home. I have an elliptical and spend my free time and commercial time doing squats, situps, pushups, and other non machine exercises.
Diet I try to cut out as much gluten and dairy as I can due to my intolerance to both. I also do not drink sodas, alcohol, or smoke.

Diet Hot dogs are my favorite food, so I eat a lot of those. Usually with macaroni and cheese. I also eat what some would consider an unholy amount of ice cream. And bourbon; lots of bourbon. But other than that, I try and eat as clean as I can.

I've been heavily involved in sports my entire life. I think I was handed a ball as soon as I could hold one, and just never really put it down. Eventually I narrowed it down to volleyball, softball, dirt bikes, and swimming. But then I found roller derby.

4-5 hrs (which includes 2 hr roller derby practice) on Mondays and Thursdays, 2-3 hrs on Tuesdays - Crossfit, PowerX weightlifting, Zumba, Butts & Guts, Barre, Kickboxing, 4-7 miles on treadmill.
Weekends - depends on the weather, Winter = way too lazy. Spring, Summer, Fall = runs in the park, outdoor trail running, outdoor skating.

Diet That's one of my downfalls. I spent most of my childhood/young adult life dieting, so now I workout to enjoy eating pretty much whatever I want. I know as I age, I'm going to need to change this and can hopefully jump on the healthy eating bandwagon with the rest of my team!

Diet I try and eat healthy but chips and salsa are always screaming my name! I eat a lot of green veggies and increase my protein intake when I'm lifting or any type of exercise.

Other Workout I see a personal trainer (who has helped me immensely with my fitness and conditioning!), lift weights/kettlebells, body weight resistance and agility training, and I bike to and from work when the weather isn't too crazy (I admire the hardcore bike commuters). I try to do some form of physical activity 5-6 days a week.
Diet

I exercise a lot, so I want to get the most out of what I'm putting into my body. Lots of lean protein (chicken and fish), vegetables, whole grain carbs, I stay away from processed foods, and I'm strict about portioning.
All of that being said, I really enjoy pizza, donuts, cheeseburgers and beer, so I do consume those things at times.
